Rude Boy – ZedsDead – SanCityHigh

Bit of an oldie this – but thought it was worthy of a mention.
Released 8mnths ago on Kissy Sellouts label San City High records – expect your bass bins to be having some sort of mental breakdown.
There are also about a million remixes available – but i think the original is still the strongest.

MiSK – Frog March – Cheap Thrills

MiSK hails from Dublin and has a fair few remixes under his belt.
This original track can be found on Herve’s jacking electro-house imprint – Cheap Thrills.
With a catchy wobbley space echo hook and thumping beats in between.

Hugh Holland – 1970’s Cali Skate Scene Photographs

Hugh Holland’s sublime and ethereal images of California skate scene in the 70’s captured more than just the birth of street skating. They show the displacement of youth culture that inspires most young skaters to pick up a board and spend hours with friends in car parks and on the streets. Admittedly Cali looks a whole lot sunnier and nicer then a North Birmingham KiwkSave car park – but regardless of the decade or the continent we all share a bond and these pictures will remind you of your crew from back in the day.

Rustie – Glass Swords LP – WARP

Glasgow has certainly been making some ripples the electronic music pond over the last couple of years/decades. The latest Glaswegian line up of usual suspects include; Hudson Mohawke, Numbers label and this wee chappie Rustie.

This LP blurs the boundaries of the multitude of bass-centric genres out there – usually on the same track. Not stuck in the dubstep/post-dubstep/ironic dubstep rut that many young producers get caught in, this LP features plently of sonically sculptured sounds and a fair pinch of 80’s synth throwback, implying a more mature thinking behind this album.

Available to by on WARP.

And a little mix from Rustie on Groove Magazine

Also here’s a little taster of my favourite track from the LP – Hover Traps.

Sean Freeman – Typography

Sean Freeman is an amazing artist/typographer working out of my friend Toria’s studio. This guy wins hands down for originality and getting the creative/commercial mix just right.

(also check out Toria’s tongue in cheek T-shirt design – “Girls are…..”)

MotorX – Front-Flip 360 – Mark Monea @ Monster Energy Best Trick

After a lot of foam pit practice the beast is unleashed.
The front flip 360 variant is called the “Carry On” – I doubt this is a reference to any Sid James films though.

Red Bull Revolutions in Sound 13th Oct 2011

Red Bull board meeting
“Right guys, listen to this, I have an amazing idea – lets get 30 of the best DJS/soundsystems currently on the scene and cram them into that big ferris wheel by the Thames! Seriously I think It’ll work”

Ever heard of the phrase don’t get high on your own supply? Apparently the guys at RBMA haven’t.

I was one of the lucky few to get a space in one of the pods (20 people plus 1 bar tender, 1 pod host and the DJ’s) – even luckier I managed to scored a pod with The 2Bears (Joe Goddard from Hot CHip and Raf Rundell – prolific S.London club promoter) – needless to say it was amazing. Factor in stunning views of London by night, Joe’s Gabriel track (everyone sang along), a live version of Bear Hug, all wrapped up with a dose of Smiley Culture and DJ Krusts Warhead.

The stream should be up on RBMA soon.

In the mean time enjoy a selection of the tunes that made our pod bounce..
